FEATHER ROLLS:

(the closest we can come to the Homemade’s by Susanne)

In large bowl add: 

¼ cup warm water

¾ cup warmed milk (soy is fine, warmed in the micro for 30 seconds to 1 minute is fine)

¼ cup sugar 

1 scant tablespoon yeast (2 ½ teaspoons)

Once bubbly add;

4 tablespoons light oil (you can use butter softened)

1 teaspoon salt 

1 egg

Stir in 1 cup of whole wheat flour, mix well

Stir in 2 cups bread flour

Knead:

Let rise until double in size

Set oven to 400

Punch down and divide into 8 even rolls (divide in half, then in half again and then again)

Grease pan, let rise 

Then turn oven down to 375 and bake for 15 minutes (be careful to check, as they burn easily, if your oven runs hot- maybe 12 minutes)
