Molasses Cookies
This is a traditional cookie made with shortening, less healthy, but a classic.
¾ C shortening 2 C flour
1 C sugar ½ tsp cloves
¼ C molasses ½ tsp ginger
1 egg 1 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp baking soda ½ tsp salt
-Melt shortening, cool, add sugar, molasses and egg, beat.
-Sift in flour, soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt, chill.
-Roll one inch balls in sugar, grease sheet.
-Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes.
-This recipe can be made healthier by substituting ½ cup plus one tablespoon of oil for the shortening and it is just as delicious. Bake at 350 for 8 minutes.
